Regulation Series: Pathos into Logos
Alongside my moon paintings, this series forms the structural core of my practice. These pieces emerge from a methodical process of mark-making that translates raw Pathos—the intense, unrefined energy of what we feel—into the clarity of Logos, or external structure. This is the architecture of regulation: a journey that moves feeling.
Where the Full Moon Over Water series represents structural harmony, these works chart the active movement of the Sovereign Witness. It is the state of being that emerges when we move beyond survival patterns and step into quiet authority. In these large-scale paintings, I use the artmaking process as a biological intervention to calm my ANS/Autonomic Nervous System. Through neurographic lines and a mindful dialogue with the paint, I no longer just trace energy; I respond to the weight of the color and the rhythm of the marks as they appear.
Guided by the Blue Wisdom of calm inquiry and the Yellow of sovereign strength, I navigate themes ranging from the celestial and oceanic to the deeply personal. The process has evolved into a deep, mindful dialogue between my inner landscape and the physical properties of the paint. I no longer just trace energy. Through my intentional constraint, the initial feeling is not merely recorded—it is transformed. The result is a resolution of resilience, where the fluidity of emotion meets the enduring strength of form—a physical record of conscious presence.
