I am very pleased to be a part of The Fletcher Exhibit at the Reece Museum in Eastern Tennessee. My drawing above: "Democracy" is included in this show. This annual juried exhibition features social and politically engaged art from all over the world in memory of artist & designer Fletcher H. Dyer, a BFA Art and Design student who was passionate about the arts and creating a community of hope for all. Fletcher died tragically in 2009 before his last semester of undergraduate. The mandate "MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT TO PRESERVE OUR DEMOCRACY!" is highlighted this year. My drawing "Democracy" is featured in this exhibit which was also very hampered by Hurricane Milton but the show went on: Brava/o to all for that great effort that made this exhibition possible!
I am very pleased to be a part of Transcending Bodies at the James Howe Galley on the Kean University Campus in Union, New Jersey in Summer/Fall of 2024. This was a major exhibition of my large oil and acrylic paintings created in large part before the Pandemic. Many of these works feature the female body in her experience of the complex, poignant and difficult circumstances that often surrounds her. Darkness and light often compete in these paintings along with the rugged journey forward. They are Other works featured in this exhibition include a series of Long Covid inspired paintings created during and after the Pandemic. They feature disconnected body parts and dark, ominous backgrounds. They allude to the devastation created by Long Covid as well as a wish to move beyond having a chronic illness. All of these works mentioned above are inspired by autobiographical moments.

Plein Air Painting
The experience of being outdoors and beyond one's self: the exhilaration one feels immersed in a seemingly boundless outdoor environment inspires the paintings below. These works also express the physical act of painting which feels freeing and instinctual outdoors. Many of these plein air paintings were completed during summer in Maine where the sky, grass, water and land all seem to envelop and heal one's body. Illness and limitation due to Long Covid fades away as one is absorbed in light and sound.
