Plein Air: The Primordial Sea
The practice of painting outdoors was my first doorway into ANS regulation (autonomic nervous system regulation.) Before I had the language of "Sovereign Witness," I had the horizon. In my Hellenic heritage, the sea is Pontos—an elemental, primordial force that is both restless and rhythmic. Standing before the Atlantic or the shores of Sebago Lake, I discovered that the act of observing the water could physically anchor my nervous system.
These paintings are a record of that initial quest for calm. By moving the brush in response to the wind, the light, and the tide, I began to move beyond survival patterns and into a state of presence. The vastness of the water acts as a psychological mirror; it allows for a deep, mindful dialogue between my inner landscape and the physical world.
In this series, the fluidity of the paint meets the enduring strength of the coast. Whether capturing the "Blue Wisdom" of the deep or the "Yellow" radiance of a breaking sun, these works remain the foundation of my practice. They are where I first learned to translate raw sensation into a resolution of resilience—a practice of intentional evolution that continues to guide every mark I make.
